Visiting Agricost

Digital farming and precision technology on Europe's largest farm.
In April 2022, the farmers involved in the GreenFields Academy program had the opportunity to visit the largest farm in Europe, the Agricost – Al Dahra farm.Â
Due to the scale of the activity at Agricost, the farm has developed an extremely efficient system for monitoring all operations and processes on the farm. We visited their own soil analysis lab and their digital agriculture lab. There, decisions are made based on data.
We also visited wheat fields, where the farmers had access to detailed information about the technology applied to this crop: We had access to the alfalfa dehydration plant, for which the farm is internationally recognized. Through the cultivation of alfalfa, Agricost farm manages to maintain the economic viability of the farm, simultaneously with the enrichment of the soil and the minimal use of plant protection products. The Agricost farm sets standards in agriculture, and the presentations of Mr. Mihai Solomei and Mr. Gabriel Novac gave the farmers inspiration for improving the technologies on their own farms.
