Visiting Alisa Group

Călărași, 2023

Pioneering in regenerative agriculture. Natural soil fertility as a purpose and a means to performance.

Alisa Group responsibly manages an impressive area of more than 17,000 ha. We visited two farms within the group: Agricom Borcea SA and Tudor 92 SRL. Here, Arnaud Charmetant presented us the extensive activity of the group in Romania and told us some of the principles that guide him in his role as administrator of these top farms: A basic principle in Alisa Group farms is the pursuit of stability in the context of climate change and increased climate variability.

At Alisa Group, stability is achieved by focusing all efforts towards optimizing costs and improving soil quality.

Here, Arnaud Charmetant demonstrates that the practices of minimum tillage, constant ground cover and precise application of all inputs are first a risk management strategy, and secondly a strategy for ensuring the long-term sustainability of production.

We visited the machinery park, and Arnaud presented us with the technology by which he applies variable rate herbicides. We were able to see this technology in the field as well, where the herbicide machine was applying total herbicide in a targeted way, only in the weedy areas. The last stop was in a no-till sunflower seeding, where we discussed the advantages and compromises of this method.
